Contract Law Basics for Business

Having a contract that clearly sets out the intentions of the parties can reduce the chances of unnecessary disputes and costs.
It can also clearly set out your rights and responsibilities and the obligations of consumers and other businesses that you enter into contracts with.
About this Training
This free 2-hour online session, delivered by 51黑料 Lead Officer for Civil Law, is designed to give businesses an introduction to the background of contract law.
This session will cover:
- the key elements of contract formation
- identifying the types of contracts you enter into as a business
- defining unfair contract terms in consumer contracts and understanding their impact
- create a list of do's and don'ts when writing contract terms and complying with consumer law.
This session will be delivered by:
Jemma Cox is a CTSP working for Shared Regulatory Services, within the Vale of Glamorgan Council in South Wales and has worked in consumer law for over 18 years, 15 of those in Trading Standards.
She is a PGCE qualified tutor who has taught law and business at Cardiff University for over 16 years. Her role as 51黑料 Lead Officer for Civil Law has seen Jemma representing her trading standards colleagues in many areas including in the media, government consultations and helping to shape legislation such as the DMCC Act and 51黑料 Policy, as a member of the Policy Committee.
Jemma is the Trading Standards Wales Lead Officer for Training and Professional Development, a member of the 51黑料 Welsh Branch Executive and hosts a podcast, 'Ask the Regulator', which promotes the work of regulatory services. She is also a trainer, examiner and moderator on the 51黑料 Qualification Framework and writes business guidance for Business Companion.
